Fagradalsfjall - Iceland

Fagradalsfjall erupted in early 2021. Before it erupted we had planned a family trip to Iceland for August 2021. But in April we got anxious. Nobody knew how long would the volcano last, so we rushed to go see it in May. But the best experience (and pictures) ended up being during the August visit. These pictures and video (below pics) are from both visits, in which we hiked to different parts of the area. Being very close to flowing lava is one of those experiences that can claim to be called lifechanging.

Heat not provided

The heat you feel when walking close to the flowing lava is intense, especially on the face. Here is a short edit from our 3 hikes to the volcano area. Once you witness something like this, you cannot wait for the next opportunity to go experience it again. I am sure that if another volcano erupted in Iceland, we would be checking flights.
