Iceland - Highlands

The Highlands encompasses a very large area of south central Iceland, and maybe it has the most unique landscapes that make Iceland so different than almost anything else on earth. The Highlands in itself is fairly diverse, but the combination of glaciers and volcanos, which shaped and colored these areas, now populated with impressive green moss is what makes these landscapes unique. Geothermal activity is clearly still present in some areas.
